    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to powers of the Florida Building
    3         Commission; amending s. 553.77, F.S.; requiring the
    4         commission to develop certain uniform standards for
    5         existing building structures and facilities; providing
    6         requirements for such standards; authorizing the
    7         commission to adopt certain rules for programs that
    8         deviate from the statewide standards; providing an
    9         effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. Paragraph (n) is added to subsection (1) of
   14  section 553.77, Florida Statutes, to read:
   15         553.77 Specific powers of the commission.—
   16         (1) The commission shall:
   17         (n) Develop uniform standards for the maintenance and
   18  periodic inspection of existing building structures and
   19  facilities across the state. The standards must be based on the
   20  Florida Building Code and developed, updated, and administered
   21  in compliance with paragraph (b). The commission may provide by
   22  rule for local maintenance and inspection programs that deviate
   23  from the statewide standards.
   24         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2022.
