17         Section 1.  Subsection (18) is added to section

18  627.6472, Florida Statutes, 1998 Supplement, to read:

19         627.6472  Exclusive provider organizations.--

20         (18)  Each organization shall allow, without prior

21  authorization, a female subscriber to visit a contracted

22  obstetrician/gynecologist for one annual visit and medically

23  necessary follow-up care detected at that visit. Nothing in

24  this subsection shall prevent an organization from requiring

25  that an obstetrician/gynecologist treating a covered patient

26  coordinate the medical care through the patient's primary care

27  physician, if applicable.

28         Section 2.  Subsection (11) is added to section 641.51,

29  Florida Statutes, to read:

30         641.51  Quality assurance program; second medical

31  opinion requirement.--

 3  obstetrician/gynecologist for one annual visit and for

 4  medically necessary follow-up care detected at that visit.

 5  Nothing in this subsection shall prevent an organization from

 6  requiring that an obstetrician/gynecologist treating a covered

 7  patient coordinate the medical care through the patient's

 8  primary care physician, if applicable.

 9         Section 3.  This act shall take effect on October 1,

10  1999, and shall apply to contracts issued or renewed on or

11  after the effective date.
