12 recommended the following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
15 On page 3, between lines 25 and 26,

17 insert:
18 Section 6. Notwithstanding subsection (3) of section
19 109 of chapter 2000-141, Laws of Florida, for areas of the
20 state not within the high velocity hurricane zone, the
21 commission shall adopt, pursuant to section 553.73, Florida
22 Statutes, the most current edition of the wind protection
23 requirements of the American Society of Civil Engineers,
24 Standard 7, as implemented by the International Building Code
25 upon updating the Florida Building Code. This section is
26 intended to explicitly supersede only the first sentence of
27 subsection (3) of section 109 of chapter 2000-141, Laws of
28 Florida.
