  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to drug trafficking; amending

  3         s. 893.135, F.S.; providing for the aggregation

  4         of the weights of certain controlled substances

  5         in determining the punishment for a

  6         drug-trafficking offense; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10  

11         Section 1.  Subsection (8) is added to section 893.135,

12  Florida Statutes, to read:

13         893.135  Trafficking; mandatory sentences; suspension

14  or reduction of sentences; conspiracy to engage in

15  trafficking.--

16         (8)  The weights of separate controlled substances that

17  are sold, purchased, manufactured, delivered, or brought into

18  this state, or are actually or constructively possessed by a

19  specific person in a series of violations of this chapter,

20  committed pursuant to one scheme or course of conduct over a

21  period of not more than 30 days, may be aggregated in

22  determining the punishment for an offense under this section.

23         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2006.
