11 The Committee on Criminal Justice (Aronberg) recommended the
12 following amendment:

14 Senate Amendment
15 On page 2, line 13, through page 3, line 13, delete
16 those lines
17
18 and insert:
19 (2)(a) In the case of a felony of the third degree,
20 the offense shall be reclassified to a felony of the second
21 degree.
22 (b) In the case of a felony of the second degree, the
23 offense shall be reclassified to a felony of the first degree.
24 (c) In the case of a felony of the first degree, the
25 offense shall be reclassified to a life felony.

27 For purposes of sentencing under chapter 921, a felony offense
28 that is reclassified under this subsection shall be ranked one
29 level above the ranking under s. 921.0022 or s. 921.0023 of
30 the offense committed.
31 (3) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the

1 court may sentence the offender as follows:
2 (a) In the case of an offense reclassified under this
3 section to a life felony or a felony of the first degree, for
4 life.
5 (b) In the case of an offense reclassified under this
6 section to a felony of the second degree, for a term of years
7 not exceeding 30.
