    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to beach erosion control projects;
    3         amending s. 161.05301, F.S.; deleting obsolete
    4         provisions regarding funding; providing an effective
    5         date.
    6         
    7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    8         
    9         Section 1. Subsection (1) of section 161.05301, Florida
   10  Statutes, is amended to read:
   11         161.05301 Beach erosion control project staffing.—
   12         (1) There are hereby appropriated to the Department of
   13  Environmental Protection six positions and $449,918 for fiscal
   14  year 1998-1999 from the Ecosystem Management and Restoration
   15  Trust Fund from revenues provided pursuant to s. 201.15. These
   16  positions and funding are provided to assist local project
   17  sponsors, and shall be used to facilitate and promote enhanced
   18  beach erosion control project administration. Such staffing
   19  resources shall be directed toward more efficient contract
   20  development and oversight, promoting cost-sharing strategies and
   21  regional coordination or projects among local governments,
   22  providing assistance to local governments to ensure timely
   23  permit review, and improving billing review and disbursement
   24  processes.
   25         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2009.
