    1                          Senate Resolution                        
    2         A resolution recognizing April 2010 as “Landscape
    3         Architecture Month” in Florida.
    4  
    5         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
    6  significantly enriches the quality of life enjoyed by Floridians
    7  and visitors to this state, and
    8         WHEREAS, landscape architects, through thoughtful planning
    9  and design and careful stewardship of this state’s land and
   10  water resources, serve to preserve, protect, and conserve
   11  Florida’s scenic beauty, unique and fragile ecosystems, and
   12  abundant natural resources, and
   13         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture enhances
   14  the built environment through skillful and artful creation of
   15  safe, functional, accessible, secure, and aesthetically pleasing
   16  public and private places, and
   17         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture
   18  encompasses the analysis, planning, design, management, and
   19  stewardship of the natural and built environments through a
   20  broad and diverse spectrum of projects, including urban design,
   21  streetscapes and public spaces, transportation corridors and
   22  facilities, security design, greenways, parks and recreation
   23  facilities, monuments, historic preservation and restoration
   24  projects, corporate and commercial construction, institutional
   25  projects, academic campuses, conservation and reclamation
   26  projects, landscape art and earth sculpture, gardens and
   27  arboreta, interior landscapes, and residential, hospitality, and
   28  resort projects, and
   29         WHEREAS, excellence in the practice of professional
   30  landscape architecture is promoted through graduate and
   31  undergraduate programs offered through the State University
   32  System and regulated by the Department of Business and
   33  Professional Regulation and the State Board of Landscape
   34  Architecture, and
   35         WHEREAS, the profession of landscape architecture serves a
   36  unique and vital role in the development of green industries in
   37  Florida, which contribute tens of billions of dollars annually
   38  to the state’s economy, NOW, THEREFORE,
   39  
   40  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:
   41  
   42         That landscape architects are commended for their valuable
   43  and important contributions to this state and nation, and April
   44  2010 is recognized as “Landscape Architecture Month” in Florida.
