1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to driver’s license fees for disabled
3 veterans; amending s. 322.21, F.S.; providing that
4 disabled veterans who meet certain qualifications are
5 entitled to a specified reduction in driver’s license
6 fees; reorganizing provisions; providing an effective
7 date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. Subsection (7) of section 322.21, Florida
12 Statutes, is amended to read:
13 322.21 License fees; procedure for handling and collecting
14 fees.—
15 (7)(a) A Any veteran who meets the qualifications in
16 subparagraphs 1.-5. is exempt from all fees required by this
17 section:
18 1. Has been honorably discharged from the Armed Forces;
19 2. who Has been issued a valid identification card by the
20 Department of Veterans’ Affairs in accordance with s. 295.17;,
21 3. Has been determined by the United States Department of
22 Veterans Affairs or its predecessor to have:
23 a. A 100 percent 100-percent total and permanent service
24 connected disability rating for compensation;, or
25 b. Has been determined to have A service-connected total
26 and permanent disability rating of 100 percent;,
27 4. Is in receipt of disability retirement pay from any
28 branch of the United States Armed Services;, and
29 5. Who Is qualified to obtain a driver’s license under this
30 chapter is exempt from all fees required by this section.
31 (b) A veteran who meets the qualifications in subparagraphs
32 1. and 2. is entitled to a 50 percent reduction in all fees
33 required by this section:
34 1. Meets the qualifications in subparagraphs (a)1., 2., 4.,
35 and 5.; and
36 2. Has been determined by the United States Department of
37 Veterans Affairs or its predecessor to have:
38 a. A total and permanent service-connected disability
39 rating for compensation of at least 50 percent but less than 100
40 percent; or
41 b. A service-connected total and permanent disability
42 rating of at least 50 percent but less than 100 percent.
43 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
