1	A bill to be entitled
2	An act relating to the treatment of a surrendered newborn
3	infant; amending s. 383.50, F.S.; presuming that the birth
4	mother of a surrendered newborn infant is eligible for
5	coverage under Medicaid as is the infant; providing an
6	effective date.

8	Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10	Section 1.  Subsection (8) of section 383.50, Florida
11	Statutes, is amended to read:
12	383.50  Treatment of surrendered newborn infant.-
13	(8)  Any newborn infant admitted to a hospital in
14	accordance with this section and the birth mother who bore the
15	infant until the time of discharge from the hospital are is
16	presumed eligible for coverage under Medicaid, subject to
17	federal rules.
18	Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
