SB 158: Use of Wireless Communications Devices/Driving

GENERAL BILL by Detert ; (CO-INTRODUCERS) Margolis ; Dockery ; Lynn

Use of Wireless Communications Devices/Driving; Creates the "Florida Ban on Texting While Driving Law." Provides legislative intent. Prohibits the operation of a motor vehicle while using a wireless communications device for certain purposes. Specifies information that is admissible as evidence of a violation. Provides for enforcement as a secondary action. Provides for points to be assessed against a driver's license for the unlawful use of a wireless communications device resulting in a crash, etc.
