Florida Senate - 2011 SB 1920 By Senator Garcia 40-01664-11 20111920__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to random drug testing for applicants 3 for and recipients of state financial assistance; 4 defining the term “state financial assistance”; 5 prohibiting a person who applies for or receives state 6 financial assistance and has agreed to or is subject 7 to random drug testing from being randomly tested for 8 drug use more than once in a 12-month period; 9 providing an effective date. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. Random drug testing.— 14 (1) As used in this section, the term “state financial 15 assistance” includes, but is not limited to, temporary cash 16 assistance, Medicaid, unemployment compensation, student 17 financial assistance, public housing subsidies, and family-care 18 assistance. 19 (2) Any person who applies for or receives state financial 20 assistance and has agreed to or is subject to random drug 21 testing may not be randomly tested for drug use more than once 22 in a 12-month period. 23 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
