A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to the Florida Center for Nursing;
3amending s. 464.0195, F.S.; imposing a fee upon each nurse
4at initial licensure and licensure renewal to fund the
5Florida Center for Nursing; providing for transfer and use
6of the collected fees; providing an effective date.

8Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10     Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 464.0195, Florida
11Statutes, is amended to read:
12     464.0195  Florida Center for Nursing; goals; licensure
13fee.-
14     (3)  In addition to the fees required for nursing
15licensure, a fee of $5 shall be imposed and collected from each
16nurse at the time of initial licensure and licensure renewal to
17fund the Florida Center for Nursing. The Board of Nursing shall
18also include on its initial and renewal application forms a
19question asking each nurse to voluntarily contribute additional
20to funding to the Florida center beyond the required for Nursing
21in addition to paying the fees imposed at the time of licensure
22and licensure renewal. Revenues collected from the $5 fee and
23from voluntary contributions collected from nurses beyond over
24and above the required fees shall be transferred from the
25Medical Quality Assurance Trust Fund to the Grants and Donations
26Trust Fund within the Department of Health and shall be used
27solely to support and maintain the goals and functions of the
28center. Before giving a nurse the opportunity to contribute to
29funding the center at the time of licensure renewal, the Board
30of Nursing shall provide the nurse with a summary of the
31center's work, a link to the center's Internet website, and the
32following statement: "The Florida Center for Nursing's operating
33revenues are derived in part from your donation. In order for
34the Florida Center for Nursing to continue its work on behalf of
35nurses, please donate."
36     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
