House Resolution
2A resolution honoring the Eleventh Judicial Circuit on the
3occasion of its 100th anniversary.

5     WHEREAS, on May 27, 1911, the Legislature carved from the
6Seventh Judicial Circuit a new circuit called the Eleventh
7Judicial Circuit, which became effective on June 10, 1911, and
8     WHEREAS, the newly created Eleventh Judicial Circuit
9consisted of Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties, with
10Livingstone Wesley Bethel of Key West presiding as its first
11circuit court judge, and
12     WHEREAS, the Eleventh Judicial Circuit's jurisdiction today
13consists of Miami-Dade County and has 123 circuit and county
14court judges and more than 14,000 attorneys serving a countywide
15population of over 2.5 million people, and
16     WHEREAS, the Eleventh Judicial Circuit is one of the
17busiest, most populous, and most prestigious jurisdictions in
18our state and nation, and
19     WHEREAS, the Eleventh Judicial Circuit proudly celebrates
20an honorable and distinguished history with its Centennial
21Anniversary this year, NOW, THEREFORE,

23Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
24Florida:

26     That the Florida House of Representatives honors the
27Eleventh Judicial Circuit for its long and dedicated service to
28the people of Miami-Dade County and to the judiciary of the
29State of Florida and congratulates the circuit on the occasion
30of its 100th anniversary.
