Florida Senate - 2015 SB 1418 By Senator Bullard 39-01337-15 20151418__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to military veterans with mobility 3 impairment; amending s. 320.089, F.S.; providing for 4 eligible Purple Heart license plate applicants to 5 receive the appropriate special license plate with the 6 international symbol of accessibility; waiving a 7 specified license tax in certain circumstances; 8 providing an effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. Paragraph (c) of subsection (1) of section 13 320.089, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 14 320.089 Veterans of the United States Armed Forces; members 15 of National Guard; survivors of Pearl Harbor; Purple Heart medal 16 recipients; active or retired United States Armed Forces 17 reservists; Combat Infantry Badge, Combat Medical Badge, or 18 Combat Action Badge recipients; former prisoners of war; Korean 19 War Veterans; Vietnam War Veterans; Operation Desert Shield 20 Veterans; Operation Desert Storm Veterans; Operation Enduring 21 Freedom Veterans; and Operation Iraqi Freedom Veterans; special 22 license plates; fee.— 23 (1) 24 (c) Notwithstanding any provisions of law to the contrary, 25 an applicant for a Pearl Harbor Survivor license plate or a 26 Purple Heart license plate who also qualifies for a disabled 27 veteran’s license plate under s. 320.084 shall be issued the 28 appropriate special license plate without payment of the license 29 tax imposed by s. 320.08. An applicant for a Purple Heart 30 license plate who qualifies under s. 320.0842 may receive the 31 appropriate special license plate with the international symbol 32 of accessibility without payment of the license tax imposed by 33 s. 320.08. An applicant for a Purple Heart license plate who 34 does not qualify under s. 320.0842 but is eligible under ss. 35 320.0848 and 320.0843 may receive the appropriate special 36 license plate with the international symbol of accessibility 37 with payment of the license tax as set forth in s. 320.08. 38 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2015.
