    2         An act relating to the presidential preference
    3         primary; amending s. 103.101, F.S.; revising the date
    4         of the presidential preference primary; providing an
    5         effective date.

    7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    8  
    9         Section 1. Subsection (1) of section 103.101, Florida
   10  Statutes, is amended to read:
   11         103.101 Presidential preference primary.—
   12         (1) Each political party other than a minor political party
   13  shall, at the presidential preference primary, elect one person
   14  to be the party’s candidate for nomination for President of the
   15  United States or select delegates to the party’s national
   16  nominating convention, as provided by party rule. The
   17  presidential preference primary shall be held on the third in
   18  each year the number of which is a multiple of 4 on the first
   19  Tuesday in March of each presidential election year that the
   20  rules of the major political parties provide for state
   21  delegations to be allocated without penalty. Any party rule
   22  directing the vote of delegates at a national nominating
   23  convention shall reasonably reflect the results of the
   24  presidential preference primary, if one is held.
   25         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
