    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Florida Building Code; amending
    3         s. 553.73, F.S.; prohibiting certain technical
    4         amendments to the Florida Building Code adopted by a
    5         local government from being rendered void in certain
    6         circumstances; specifying that such amendments are
    7         subject to review or modification if carried forward
    8         into the next edition of the code; providing an
    9         effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. Paragraph (d) is added to subsection (4) of
   14  section 553.73, Florida Statutes, to read:
   15         553.73 Florida Building Code.—
   16         (4)
   17         (d) A technical amendment to the Florida Building Code
   18  related to water conservation practices or design criteria
   19  adopted by a local government pursuant to this subsection may
   20  not be rendered void when the code is updated if the technical
   21  amendment is necessary to protect or provide for more efficient
   22  use of water resources as provided in s. 373.621. However, any
   23  such technical amendment carried forward into the next edition
   24  of the code pursuant to this paragraph is subject to review or
   25  modification as provided in this part.
   26         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2016.
