Appropriations Subcommittee on Education (Bullard) recommended
the following:
1 Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

3 Delete lines 609 - 640
4 and insert:
5 course (EOC) assessment constitutes 10 30 percent of the
6 student’s final course grade. A student must pass the statewide,
7 standardized Algebra I EOC assessment, or earn a comparative
8 score, in order to earn a standard high school diploma. A
9 student’s performance on the statewide, standardized Geometry
10 EOC assessment constitutes 10 30 percent of the student’s final
11 course grade. If the state administers a statewide, standardized
12 Algebra II assessment, a student selecting Algebra II must take
13 the assessment, and the student’s performance on the assessment
14 constitutes 10 30 percent of the student’s final course grade. A
15 student who earns An industry certification attained by a
16 student for which there is a statewide college credit
17 articulation agreement approved by the State Board of Education
18 shall may substitute the certification for one mathematics
19 credit. Substitution may occur for up to two mathematics
20 credits, except for Algebra I and Geometry.
21 (c) Three credits in science.—Two of the three required
22 credits must have a laboratory component. A student must earn
23 one credit in Biology I and two credits in equally rigorous
24 courses. The statewide, standardized Biology I EOC assessment
25 constitutes 10 30 percent of the student’s final course grade. A
26 student who earns An industry certification attained by a
27 student for which there is a statewide college credit
28 articulation agreement approved by the State Board of Education
29 shall may substitute the certification for one science credit,
30 except for Biology I.
31 (d) Three credits in social studies.—A student must earn
32 one credit in United States History; one credit in World
33 History; one-half credit in economics, which must include
34 financial literacy; and one-half credit in United States
35 Government. The United States History EOC assessment constitutes
36 10 30 percent of the student’s final course grade.

43 standard high school diploma; revising the percentage
44 of a student’s performance on an end-of-course
45 assessment which constitutes the student’s final
