5 and insert:
6 (6)(7) PREEMINENT STATE RESEARCH UNIVERSITY SPECIAL COURSE
7 REQUIREMENT AUTHORITY.—In order to provide a jointly shared
8 educational experience, a university that is designated a
9 preeminent state research university may require its incoming
10 first-time-in-college students to take a six-credit 9-to-12
11 credit set of unique courses specifically determined by the
12 university and published on the university’s website. The
13 university may stipulate that credit for such courses may not be
14 earned through any acceleration mechanism pursuant to s. 1007.27
15 or s. 1007.271 or any other transfer credit. All accelerated
16 credits earned up to the limits specified in ss. 1007.27 and
17 1007.271 shall be applied toward graduation at the student’s
18 request.
19 (7)(8) PREEMINENT STATE RESEARCH UNIVERSITY FLEXIBILITY
20 AUTHORITY.—The Board of Governors is encouraged to identify and
21 grant all reasonable, feasible authority and flexibility to
22 ensure that each a designated preeminent state research
23 university and each designated emerging preeminent state
24 research university is free from unnecessary restrictions.
