Subsection (66) of section 320.08058, Florida 7 Statutes, is amended to read: 8 320.08058 Specialty license plates.— 9 (66) IN GOD WE TRUST LICENSE PLATES.— 10 (a) The department shall develop an In God We Trust license 11 plate as provided in this section. However, the requirements of 12 s. 320.08053 must be met before the plates are issued. In God We 13 Trust license plates must bear the colors and design approved by 14 the department. The word “Florida” must appear at the top of the 15 plate, and the words “In God We Trust” must appear in the body 16 of the plate. 17 (b) The annual use fees from the plate shall be distributed 18 to the In God We Trust Foundation, Inc., which may use a maximum 19 of 10 percent of the proceeds to offset marketing, 20 administration, and promotion, and which may use the balance of 21 the fees to address the needs of military service members and 22 their spouses and dependents; provide education in public and 23 private schools regarding the historical significance of 24 religion in American and Florida history; provide educational 25 grants in public and private schools; address the needs of 26 public safety employees and their spouses and dependents; and 27 foster self-reliance and stability in Florida’s children and 28 families. 29(b) The license plate annual use fees shall be distributed30to the In God We Trust Foundation, Inc., to fund educational31scholarships for the children of Florida residents who are32members of the United States Armed Forces, the National Guard,33and the United States Armed Forces Reserve and for the children34of public safety employees who have died in the line of duty who35are not covered by existing state law. Funds shall also be36distributed to other s. 501(c)(3) organizations that may apply37for grants and scholarships and to provide educational grants to38public and private schools to promote the historical and39religious significance of American and Florida history. The In40God We Trust Foundation, Inc., shall distribute the license41plate annual use fees in the following manner:421. The In God We Trust Foundation, Inc., shall retain all43revenues from the sale of such plates until all startup costs44for developing and establishing the plate have been recovered.452. Ten percent of the funds received by the In God We Trust46Foundation, Inc., shall be expended for administrative costs,47promotion, and marketing of the license plate directly48associated with the operations of the In God We Trust49Foundation, Inc.503.
