       The Committee on Judiciary (Simmons) recommended the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 24 - 32
    4  and insert:
    5         (1) A person who is in a dwelling, residence, or vehicle in
    6  which the person has a right to be has no duty to retreat and
    7  has the right to stand his or her ground and use or threaten to
    8  use:
    9         (a) Non-deadly force against another when and to the extent
   10  that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is
   11  necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the
   12  other’s imminent use of unlawful force; or
   13         (b) Deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that
   14  using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent
   15  imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or
   16  another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible
   17  felony.

   21         Delete lines 3 - 10
   22  and insert:
   23         s. 776.013, F.S.; clarifying the right to use
   24         defensive force by a person who is in a dwelling,
   25         residence, or occupied vehicle; authorizing the person
   26         to use force when the person reasonably believes such
   27         force is necessary to defend against the imminent use
   28         of unlawful force or to prevent the imminent
   29         commission of a forcible felony; conforming a cross-
