Florida Senate - 2017 SB 2502-A By Senator Latvala 16-00010-17A 20172502A__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act implementing SB 2500-A, an act making 3 appropriations to fund the Florida Education Finance 4 Program for the 2017-2018 fiscal year; providing 5 legislative intent; incorporating by reference certain 6 calculations of the Florida Education Finance Program; 7 providing that funds for instructional materials must 8 be released and expended as required in specified 9 proviso language; providing effective dates. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. It is the intent of the Legislature that the 14 implementing and administering provisions of this act apply to 15 SB 2500-A, 2017 Special Session A, for the 2017-2018 fiscal 16 year. 17 Section 2. In order to implement Specific Appropriations 7, 18 8, 9, 91, and 92 of SB 2500-A, the calculations of the Florida 19 Education Finance Program for the 2017-2018 fiscal year included 20 in the document titled “Public School Funding: The Florida 21 Education Finance Program,” dated June 6, 2017, and filed with 22 the Secretary of the Senate, are incorporated by reference for 23 the purpose of displaying the calculations used by the 24 Legislature, consistent with the requirements of state law, in 25 making appropriations for the Florida Education Finance Program. 26 This section expires July 1, 2018. 27 Section 3. In order to implement Specific Appropriations 7 28 and 91 of SB 2500-A, and notwithstanding ss. 1002.20, 1003.02, 29 1006.28-1006.42, 1011.62(6)(b)5., and 1011.67, Florida Statutes, 30 relating to the expenditure of funds provided for instructional 31 materials, for the 2017-2018 fiscal year, funds provided for 32 instructional materials shall be released and expended as 33 required in the proviso language for Specific Appropriation 91 34 of SB 2500-A. This section expires July 1, 2018. 35 Section 4. This act shall take effect July 1, 2017; or, if 36 this act fails to become a law until after that date, it shall 37 take effect upon becoming a law and shall operate retroactively 38 to July 1, 2017.
