       Senator Montford moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

    3         Between lines 232 and 233
    4  insert:
    5         Section 2. Paragraph (i) is added to subsection (2) and
    6  paragraph (k) is added to subsection (3) of section 121.0515,
    7  Florida Statutes, to read:
    8         121.0515 Special Risk Class.—
    9         (2) MEMBERSHIP.—
   10         (i)Effective July 1, 2019, “special risk member” includes
   11  any member appointed and employed as a school guardian pursuant
   12  to s. 1006.12(3)(a) and (b).
   13         (3) CRITERIA.—A member, to be designated as a special risk
   14  member, must meet the following criteria:
   15         (k) The member must be appointed and employed by a district
   16  school board or charter school governing board pursuant to s.
   17  1006.12(3)(a) and (b) for the protection and safety of school
   18  personnel, property, students, and visitors.
   19         Section 3. Paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section
   20  112.19, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
   21         112.19 Law enforcement, correctional, and correctional
   22  probation officers; death benefits.—
   23         (1) Whenever used in this section, the term:
   24         (b) “Law enforcement, correctional, or correctional
   25  probation officer” means any officer as defined in s. 943.10(14)
   26  or employee of the state or any political subdivision of the
   27  state, including any law enforcement officer, correctional
   28  officer, correctional probation officer, state attorney
   29  investigator, or public defender investigator, whose duties
   30  require such officer or employee to investigate, pursue,
   31  apprehend, arrest, transport, or maintain custody of persons who
   32  are charged with, suspected of committing, or convicted of a
   33  crime; and the term includes any member of a bomb disposal unit
   34  whose primary responsibility is the location, handling, and
   35  disposal of explosive devices. The term also includes any full
   36  time officer or employee of the state or any political
   37  subdivision of the state, certified pursuant to chapter 943,
   38  whose duties require such officer to serve process or to attend
   39  a session of a circuit or county court as bailiff. The term
   40  includes a school guardian appointed and employed pursuant to s.
   41  1006.12(3)(a) and (b).
