    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to campaign finance; amending s.
    3         106.1405, F.S.; authorizing a candidate to use funds
    4         on deposit in his or her campaign account to pay for
    5         child care expenses under specified conditions;
    6         providing an effective date.

    8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    9  
   10         Section 1. Section 106.1405, Florida Statutes, is amended
   11  to read:
   12         106.1405 Use of campaign funds.—
   13         (1) A candidate or the spouse of a candidate may not use
   14  funds on deposit in a campaign account of such candidate to
   15  defray normal living expenses for the candidate or the
   16  candidate’s family, other than expenses actually incurred for
   17  transportation, meals, and lodging by the candidate or a family
   18  member during travel in the course of the campaign.
   19         (2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), a candidate may use
   20  funds on deposit in his or her campaign account to pay for child
   21  care expenses while the candidate is engaging in campaign
   22  activities if such expenses would not have been incurred in the
   23  absence of the campaign.
   24         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2023.
