  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to motor vehicle registration;

  3         amending s. 320.02, F.S.; directing the

  4         Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

  5         to develop a coding system for motor vehicle

  6         registration so as to eliminate the use of the

  7         registrant's address on the registration;

  8         providing a timeframe for implementation;

  9         providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13         Section 1.  Subsection (16) is added to section 320.02,

14  Florida Statutes, to read:

15         320.02  Registration required; application for

16  registration; forms.--

17         (16)  The department shall develop a coding system,

18  effective January 1, 1998, for motor vehicle registration

19  which shall eliminate the use of the registrant's personal

20  address information on the registration required to be in the

21  possession of the operator of the motor vehicle.

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

23  law.
