  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones;

  3         authorizing the Office of Tourism, Trade, and

  4         Economic Development to amend the boundaries of

  5         certain enterprise zones; providing

  6         limitations; providing severability; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law,

12  prior to June 30, 1998, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and

13  Economic Development may amend the boundaries of the

14  enterprise zone located in Orange County to allow for

15  expansion of the enterprise zone into any area contiguous to

16  the enterprise zone so long as the area which is the subject

17  of the amendment does not exceed 4 square miles and the

18  amendment is consistent with this section and with the

19  categories, criteria, and limitations imposed by s. 290.0055,

20  Florida Statutes, upon the establishment of such enterprise

21  zone. This section is repealed July 1, 1998.

22         Section 2.  Notwithstanding any other provision of law,

23  by June 30, 1998, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

24  Development may amend the boundaries of an enterprise zone

25  located within an inland county, with a population greater

26  than 500,000, to provide for an expansion of such boundaries

27  to include one noncontiguous area, so long as the area which

28  is the subject of the amendment does not exceed 4 square miles

29  and the amendment is consistent with this section and the

30  categories, criteria, and limitations imposed by s. 290.0055,

  1  Florida Statutes, upon the establishment of the enterprise

  2  zone.  This section is repealed July 1, 1998.

  3         Section 3.  If any provision of this act or the

  4  application thereof to any person or circumstance is held

  5  invalid, the invalidity shall not affect other provisions or

  6  applications of the act which can be given effect without the

  7  invalid provision or application, and to this end the

  8  provisions of this act are declared severable.

  9         Section 4.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1997, or

10  upon becoming a law, whichever occurs later.

      Authorizes the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
15    Development to amend the boundaries of an enterprise zone
      in Orange County to expand it up to 4 square miles into
16    areas contiguous to the enterprise zone. Authorizes the
      Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development to
17    amend the boundaries of an enterprise zone in an inland
      county with a population greater than 500,000 to expand
18    it to include a noncontiguous area of up to 4 square
