  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to municipal government;

  3         creating s. 166.0495, F.S.; authorizing

  4         municipalities to enter into interlocal

  5         agreements to provide law enforcement services

  6         within the boundaries of certain other

  7         municipalities; providing an effective date.

  8

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 166.0495, Florida Statutes, is

12  created to read:

13         166.0495  Interlocal agreements to provide law

14  enforcement services.--A municipality may enter into an

15  interlocal agreement pursuant to s. 163.01 with an adjoining

16  municipality or municipalities within the same county to

17  provide law enforcement services within the territorial

18  boundaries of the other adjoining municipality or

19  municipalities.  Any such agreement shall specify the duration

20  of the agreement.  The authority granted a municipality under

21  this section is in addition to and not in limitation of any

22  other authority granted a municipality to enter into

23  agreements for law enforcement services or to conduct law

24  enforcement activities outside the territorial boundaries of

25  the municipality.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

27  law.
