  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to appropriations; providing

  3         for an annual appropriation to be made in the

  4         General Appropriations Act to compensate Glades

  5         County and the City of Pahokee for ad valorem

  6         taxes lost due to the construction of a private

  7         correctional facility in that county; providing

  8         for repeal of the act; providing an effective

  9         date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13         Section 1.  The Legislature shall, in the General

14  Appropriations Act, provide an annual appropriation for Glades

15  County and the City of Pahokee in an amount necessary to

16  offset the ad valorem taxes lost by that county due to the

17  construction of a private correctional facility in the county.

18  This act is repealed July 1, 2015, or when the Department of

19  Corrections assumes responsibility for operating the private

20  correctional facility, whichever occurs earlier.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

22  law.

25                          SENATE SUMMARY

26    Provides for the Legislature to annually appropriate
      funds to Glades County and the City of Pahokee to
27    compensate for ad valorem taxes lost by that county due
      to the construction of a private correctional facility.
28    Provides for the act to be repealed July 1, 2015, or when
      the Department of Corrections assumes responsibility for
29    operating the facility, whichever occurs earlier.
