  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to water management districts;

  3         amending s. 373.503, F.S.; requiring a vote of

  4         the electors in each district before ad valorem

  5         taxes may be levied; providing an effective

  6         date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10         Section 1.  Paragraph (d) is added to subsection (2) of

11  section 373.503, Florida Statutes, to read:

12         373.503  Manner of taxation.--

13         (2)

14         (d)  Effective January 1, 1999, ad valorem taxes may be

15  levied only by vote of the electors in each water management

16  district.

17         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

18  law.
