  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to cloning; prohibiting the

  3         cloning of human DNA in the state; providing a

  4         penalty; providing an effective date.

  6  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  7

  8         Section 1.  It shall be unlawful in this state to clone

  9  or attempt to clone the DNA of any human being.  A person who

10  clones or attempts to clone the DNA of any human being commits

11  a felony of the first degree, punishable as provided in s.

12  775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084, Florida Statutes.

13         Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 1997.
