Prewitt 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to the Cities of Port Richey 3 and New Port Richey, Pasco County; abolishing 4 the City of Port Richey; annexing the lands 5 comprising that city into the City of New Port 6 Richey and providing for the City of New Port 7 Richey to assume the assets and liabilities of 8 the City of Port Richey; providing for a 9 referendum; providing effective dates. 10 11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12 13 Section 1. The City of Port Richey, created by chapter 14 11034, Laws of Florida, 1925, as amended by chapter 21505, 15 Laws of Florida, 1941, and by chapters 61-2716, 61-2717, 16 61-2718, 61-2719, 67-1954, and 67-1955, Laws of Florida, is 17 abolished, and the lands comprising the City of Port Richey 18 are annexed into the City of New Port Richey. 19 Section 2. The City of New Port Richey shall assume 20 all assets and liabilities of the City of Port Richey. 21 Section 3. This act, except for this section, which 22 shall take effect July 1, 1997, shall take effect January 1, 23 1998, but only if sections 1 and 2 of this act are approved by 24 a majority vote of those electors who reside in the City of 25 New Port Richey who vote in a referendum to be held on 26 September 9, 1997, and by a majority vote of those electors 27 who reside in the City of Port Richey who vote in a referendum 28 to be held on September 9, 1997.
