1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to state property owned by the
3 Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission;
4 transferring certain described property from
5 the state to Palm Beach County; providing a
6 contingency; providing an effective date.

8 WHEREAS, the air quality and building conditions in the
9 existing offices of the West Palm Beach regional office of the
10 Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission are dangerous to
11 employees and the public, and
12 WHEREAS, several buildings on the aforementioned
13 property have been condemned, and
14 WHEREAS, the cost of removing and replacing buildings
15 at this site is beyond the means of the State of Florida, NOW,
16 THEREFORE,

18 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

20 Section 1. In recognition of the fact that the Game
21 and Fresh Water Fish Commission can no longer use its property
22 at 551 N. Military Trail in West Palm Beach, the commission is
23 directed to transfer its ownership interest in the land and
24 facilities at this site to the County of Palm Beach. Such
25 transfer of ownership is contingent upon the commission's
26 determination that such transfer will not result in
27 ineligibility for future federal funds from the U.S.
28 Department of Interior since federal funds had been used to
29 construct facilities at this location.
30 Section 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 1998.

1 STATEMENT OF SUBSTANTIAL CHANGES CONTAINED IN
COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR
2 SB 1322

4 The committee substitute clarifies that the owner of the
property is the Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission (GFWFC)
5 and that the transfer of ownership includes both land and
facilities. The transfer is made contingent on the GFWFC
6 determining that the transfer will not result in an
ineligibility for future federal funds.
