  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the St. Lucie County Fire

  3         District; amending ch. 96-532, Laws of Florida,

  4         revising the responsibilities of the

  5         clerk-treasurer of the district; providing an

  6         effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Section 16 of chapter 96-532, Laws of

11  Florida, is amended to read;

12         Section 16.  Clerk-treasurer.--The board shall appoint

13  and employ a clerk-treasurer who shall serve at the will of

14  the board. The clerk-treasurer of the district shall be the

15  Financial Officer and Personnel Officer of the district and

16  shall also maintain the records of the district. The

17  clerk-treasurer shall be required to give to the Board of

18  Commissioners of the district a good and sufficient surety

19  bond in the sum of $10,000 conditioned on his or her

20  faithfully performing the duties of the office and well and

21  truly accounting for all moneys of the district coming into

22  his or her custody and/or control. The premium of the bond

23  shall be paid out of the funds of the district and shall be

24  approved by the Board of Commissioners.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

26  law.
