  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution commending Munroe Regional Medical

  3         Center on the 100th Anniversary of its

  4         founding.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Munroe Regional Medical Center was founded in

  7  Ocala in 1898 as Marion Surgical Hospital, and is the

  8  fourth-oldest hospital in this state, and

  9         WHEREAS, Munroe Regional Medical Center has, over the

10  last 100 years, grown from two rooms in a newspaper building

11  into a 323-bed not-for-profit acute care hospital, and

12         WHEREAS, Munroe Regional Medical Center provides

13  medical care to patients without regard to race, religion,

14  national original, or financial status, as well as providing

15  nurses to the Marion County public school system, supporting

16  Community Health Services, and assisting other community

17  health education and treatment programs, and

18         WHEREAS, Marion Regional Medical Center's Neuroscience

19  Center is recognized as one of the top 25 stroke-treatment

20  centers in the country, NOW, THEREFORE,

22  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

24         That Munroe Regional Medical Center and its staff are

25  commended for providing outstanding medical care to the people

26  of Ocala, Marion County, and the surrounding region for the

27  last 100 years.

28         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,

29  with the seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the

30  Munroe Regional Medical Center as a tangible token of the

31  sentiments of the Florida Senate.
