1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to marriage; providing that
3 same-sex marriages entered into in any
4 jurisdiction, whether within, or outside the
5 State of Florida, the United States, or any
6 other jurisdiction, either domestic or foreign,
7 or any other place or location are not
8 recognized in this state; prohibiting the state
9 and its agencies and subdivisions from giving
10 effect to specified public acts, records, or
11 proceedings respecting such relationships or
12 claims arising from such relationships;
13 providing an effective date.

15 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
16
17 Section 1. (1) Marriages between persons of the same
18 sex entered into in any jurisdiction, whether within, or
19 outside the State of Florida, the United States, or any other
20 jurisdiction, either domestic or foreign, or any other place
21 or location, or relationships between persons of the same sex
22 which are treated as marriages in any jurisdiction, whether
23 within, or outside the State of Florida, the United States, or
24 any other jurisdiction, either domestic or foreign, or any
25 other place or location, are not recognized for any purpose in
26 this state.
27 (2) The state, its agencies, and its political
28 subdivisions may not give effect to any public act, record, or
29 judicial proceeding of any state, territory, possession, or
30 tribe of the United States or of any other jurisdiction,
31 either domestic or foreign, or any other place or location

1 respecting either a marriage or relationship not recognized
2 under subsection (1) or a claim arising from such a marriage
3 or relationship.
4 (3) For purposes of interpreting any state statute or
5 rule, the term "marriage" means only a legal union between one
6 man and one woman as husband and wife, and the term "spouse"
7 applies only to a member of such a union.
8 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
9 law.
