  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones; creating

  3         s. 290.0067, F.S.; providing for the creation

  4         of two enterprise zones in areas impacted by

  5         the acquisition of Lake Apopka farm lands;

  6         providing for a duration of these enterprise

  7         zones; providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 290.0067, Florida Statutes, is

12  created to read:

13         290.0067  Enterprise zone designation for communities

14  impacted by Lake Apopka land acquisition.--The counties of

15  Lake or Orange or the municipalities of Zellwood or Apopka may

16  apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

17  Development for enterprise zone designations of certain areas

18  suffering adverse economic impacts due to governmental

19  acquisition of Lake Apopka farm lands under s. 373.461. The

20  application must be submitted by December 31, 1998, and must

21  comply with the requirements of s. 290.0055, except s.

22  290.0055(3). Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 290.0065,

23  limiting the total number of enterprise zones designated and

24  the number of enterprise zones within a population category,

25  the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may

26  designate two enterprise zones under this section. The Office

27  of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development shall establish

28  the initial effective date of any enterprise zone designated

29  under this section, based upon when unemployment will occur

30  due to the cessation of farming on lands acquired under s.

  1  373.461. Any zone designated under this section will terminate

  2  5 years following the established effective date.

  3         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

  4  law.
