  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to appropriations; providing

  3         for an annual appropriation to be made in the

  4         General Appropriations Act to compensate Glades

  5         County for ad valorem taxes lost due to the

  6         construction of a private correctional facility

  7         in that county; providing for repeal of the

  8         act; providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  The Legislature shall, in the General

13  Appropriations Act, provide an annual appropriation for Glades

14  County in an amount necessary to offset the ad valorem taxes

15  lost by that county due to the construction of a private

16  correctional facility in the county. This act is repealed July

17  1, 2014, or when the Department of Corrections assumes

18  responsibility for operating the private correctional

19  facility, whichever occurs earlier.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

21  law.

24                          SENATE SUMMARY

25    Provides for the Legislature to annually appropriate
      funds to Glades County to compensate for ad valorem taxes
26    lost by that county due to the construction of a private
      correctional facility. Provides for the act to be
27    repealed July 1, 2014, or when the Department of
      Corrections assumes responsibility for operating the
28    facility, whichever occurs earlier.
