19 Section 1. Subsection (6) is added to section 196.031,
20 Florida Statutes, to read:
21 196.031 Exemption of homesteads.--
22 (6) In addition to the exemptions provided by this
23 section, any taxing authority may, with respect to taxes
24 levied by that authority, grant an additional exemption of
25 $25,000 of assessed valuation for any person who is entitled
26 to the exemption provided by subsection (1), who is 65 years
27 of age or older, and whose annual household income is less
28 than $20,000. The property appraiser may require an applicant
29 for this exemption to submit such evidence as is necessary to
30 establish his or her qualifications for this exemption.
