Section 741.465, Florida Statutes, is 15 created to read: 16 741.465 Address Confidentiality Program for Victims of 17 Domestic Violence; certain information exempt from 18 disclosure.--The addresses, corresponding telephone numbers, 19 and social security numbers of program participants in the 20 Address Confidentiality Program for Victims of Domestic 21 Violence are exempt from s. 119.07(1) and s. 24(a), Art. I of 22 the State Constitution, except the information may be 23 disclosed under the following circumstances: if requested by 24 a law enforcement agency, to the law enforcement agency; if 25 directed by a court order, to a person identified in the 26 order; or if the certification has been canceled. For 27 purposes of this section, the term "address" means a 28 residential street address, school address, or work address, 29 as specified on the individual's application to be a program 30 participant in the Address Confidentiality Program for Victims 31 of Domestic Violence. Florida House of Representatives - 1998 CS/CS/HB 1639 604-117-98 1 Government Sunset Review Act of 1995 in accordance with s. 2 119.15, and shall stand repealed on October 2, 2003, unless 3 reviewed and saved from repeal through reenactment by the 4 Legislature. 5 Section 2. The Legislature finds that it is a public 6 necessity that the addresses, corresponding telephone numbers, 7 and social security numbers of program participants in the 8 Address Confidentiality Program for Victims of Domestic 9 Violence be exempt from public records requirements. Release 10 of this information would significantly threaten the safety 11 and security of program participants. Therefore, the harm 12 that would result from such release outweighs any public 13 benefit that might result therefrom. 14 Section 3. This act shall take effect on the effective 15 date of House Bill No. 1637, relating to the Address 16 Confidentiality Program for Victims of Domestic Violence, or 17 similar legislation enacted during the 1998 Regular Session of 18 the Legislature. 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 2
