Section 768.32, Florida Statutes, is 12 created to read: 13 768.32 Liability of person renting or leasing motor 14 vehicles.--Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no 15 person engaged in the business of renting or leasing motor 16 vehicles shall be liable to a claimant for the tortious act of 17 any person operating a motor vehicle rented or leased from the 18 person engaged in the business of renting or leasing motor 19 vehicles without a showing of negligence or intentional 20 misconduct on the part of the person from whom the motor 21 vehicle was rented or leased. 22 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a 23 law. 24 25 ***************************************** 26 HOUSE SUMMARY 27 For purposes of chapter 768, F.S., relating to 28 negligence, provides that no person engaged in the business of renting or leasing motor vehicles shall be 29 liable to a claimant for the tortious act of any person operating a motor vehicle rented or leased from the 30 person engaged in the business of renting or leasing motor vehicles without a showing of negligence or 31 intentional misconduct on the part of the person from whom the motor vehicle was rented or leased. 1
