  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to nursing home facilities;

  3         creating s. 400.215, F.S.; requiring background

  4         screening for all nursing home staff, including

  5         auxiliary employees; providing an effective

  6         date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10         Section 1.  Section 400.215, Florida Statutes, is

11  created to read:

12         400.215  Personnel screening requirement.--The agency

13  shall require background screening, including employment

14  history, criminal records, and fingerprint checks, pursuant to

15  level 2 screening standards set forth under chapter 435 as a

16  condition for employment or continued employment for all

17  staff, including auxiliary employees, of a nursing home

18  facility licensed under this part.

19         Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 1997.
