  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to Hillsborough County;

  3         amending chapter 67-945, Laws of Florida, as

  4         amended; providing for the election of school

  5         board members at the time of the first primary

  6         and general elections as provided by law;

  7         providing for any runoff to be held at the same

  8         time as the general election; providing an

  9         effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13         Section 1.  Section 3 of chapter 67-945, Laws of

14  Florida, as amended by chapter 75-393, Laws of Florida, is

15  amended to read:

16         Section 3.  The seven (7) members of the board shall

17  henceforth be elected in nonpartisan elections. There shall be

18  no political party affiliation shown on the ballot and no

19  political party affiliation or association shall be used by

20  any candidate during the campaign. Election of school board

21  members shall be held at the same time as the first primary

22  election and the general second primary election as provided

23  by law. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast

24  in a nonpartisan primary held at the same time as the first

25  primary election, a runoff election will be held at the same

26  time as the general second primary election.

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

28  law.
