1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to district school board
3 elections; requiring certain school districts
4 to elect school district board members from
5 single-member residence areas; providing an
6 effective date.

8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10 Section 1. (1) In school districts having a
11 population of 1 million or more persons, district school board
12 members must be elected from single-member residence areas by
13 electors residing in each of the single-member residence areas
14 only, notwithstanding the provisions of sections 230.061,
15 230.10, or 230.105, Florida Statutes.
16 (2) In school districts having a population of 1
17 million or more persons, the district school board shall
18 provide for the orderly transition to election from
19 single-member residence areas as the terms of incumbent school
20 board members expire.
21 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
22 law.
