1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to health care for children;
3 requiring the Division of Children's Medical
4 Services of the Department of Health to develop
5 recommendations regarding the medical delivery
6 system for children; requiring reports;
7 requiring appointment of an advisory council on
8 medical services to children; providing an
9 effective date.

11 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13 Section 1. The Division of Children's Medical Services
14 of the Department of Health, in consultation with the Agency
15 for Health Care Administration, shall develop recommendations
16 regarding the medical delivery system for children, including,
17 but not limited to, the following:
18 (1) The design of an integrated child health delivery
19 system.
20 (2) A plan and budget for continuous update,
21 evaluation, and development of practice guidelines for
22 pediatric providers and standards for health care facilities
23 and services for children.
24 (3) An inventory of published practice guidelines for
25 pediatric providers.
26 (4) An inventory of published standards for health
27 care facilities and services for children.

29 The division shall submit a report of its recommendations
30 regarding subsections (1) and (2) by December 15, 1997, and
31 regarding subsections (3) and (4) by December 15, 1998, to the

1 President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of
2 Representatives, the minority leaders of the Senate and House
3 of Representatives, and the chairs of the relevant substantive
4 and fiscal committees of each house of the Legislature.
5 Section 2. The Division of Children's Medical Services
6 of the Department of Health shall appoint an advisory council
7 on medical services for children composed of pediatric
8 providers, other health care providers as appropriate, and
9 educational support organizations, to provide technical
10 assistance in the development of the medical delivery system
11 for children. The members of the council shall serve without
12 compensation and shall not be entitled to travel expenses or
13 per diem.
14 Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
15 law.

Requires the Division of Children's Medical Services of
20 the Department of Health to develop recommendations on

21 reports to the Legislature. Requires the division to
appoint an advisory council to provide technical
