Florida House of Representatives - 1997 HB 191 By Representative Effman 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to child support; amending s. 3 61.13, F.S.; requiring parents who are 4 obligated to make child support payments to 5 purchase child support insurance under certain 6 circumstances; providing for written proof of 7 such insurance; providing an effective date. 8 9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 10 11 Section 1. Subsection (9) is added to section 61.13, 12 FLorida Statutes, 1996 Supplement, to read: 13 61.13 Custody and support of children; visitation 14 rights; power of court in making orders.-- 15 (9) All orders for child support may include a 16 provision that the parent required to pay child support 17 purchase "child support insurance" which shall provide a 18 minimum of 4 months' continuous child support payments upon 19 the obligated parents' employment being terminated by his or 20 her employer. Along with this coverage, the obligated parent 21 shall forward written proof of the insurance policy to the 22 court and to the recipient of the child support payments. The 23 minimum information required to be sent to the court and to 24 the recipient of the child support payments shall include: 25 (a) The name of the insurance company. 26 (b) The policy number. 27 (c) The claim department telephone number. 28 Section 2.
