  1                    Senate Resolution No.     

  2         A resolution commending Matthew Green for being

  3         selected as a Prudential Spirit of Community

  4         Award winner.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Matthew Green, a resident of Titusville and a

  7  student at Titusville High School, has achieved national

  8  recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a

  9  1998 Prudential Spirit of Community Award, and

10         WHEREAS, this prestigious award, presented by the

11  Prudential Insurance Company of America in partnership with

12  the National Association of Secondary School Principals,

13  honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated

14  an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and

15         WHEREAS, Matthew Green earned this award by giving

16  generously of his time and energy to create an Internet

17  website, Teens with Crohn's Disease, which has recorded more

18  than 13,000 visits and provides information and support for

19  persons with this disease, and

20         WHEREAS, the success of this state, the strength of its

21  communities, and the overall vitality of American society

22  depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young people

23  like Matthew Green, who use their talents and resources to

24  serve others, NOW, THEREFORE,

26  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

27

28         That Matthew Green is commended for his outstanding

29  record of volunteer service and community spirit, and is

30  congratulated for being selected as a Prudential Spirit of

31  Community Award winner.

  1         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution,
