  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Construction Industry

  3         Recovery Fund; amending s. 489.143, F.S.;

  4         increasing the aggregate amount that may be

  5         paid for claims against any one

  6         certificateholder or registrant; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

10

11         Section 1.  Subsection (4) of section 489.143, Florida

12  Statutes, is amended to read:

13         489.143  Payment from the fund.--

14         (4)  Payments for claims against any one

15  certificateholder or registrant shall not exceed, in the

16  aggregate, $250,000 $100,000. If any claims by claimants which

17  have come before the board since January 1, 1998, were denied

18  in whole or in part solely due to the prior aggregate cap of

19  $100,000, the board shall pay such claims, but the payment may

20  not exceed the aggregate limit of $250,000 and the limit of

21  $25,000 per claimant specified in subsection (3).

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

23  law.

26                          SENATE SUMMARY

27    With respect to the Construction Industry Recovery Fund,
      increases the aggregate amount that may be paid for
28    claims against any one certificateholder or registrant.
