11  Senator Klein moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 2, between lines 15 and 16,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 2.  The county commission may assign the

18  collection of fines, court costs, and other costs imposed by a

19  trial court for offenses tried in that county which remain

20  unpaid for 90 days or more to a private attorney or collection

21  agency that is licensed or registered in this state, if the

22  county commission determines the assignation to be

23  cost-effective and has followed established bid practices.

24  The county commission may authorize a fee to be added to the

25  outstanding balance to offset any collection costs that would

26  be incurred.

11         county court and remaining unpaid after a

12         certain period to a private attorney or

13         collection agency under specified

14         circumstances; providing for authorization by

15         the county commission of any additional fee to

16         offset collection costs; providing that the

17         county commission may assign the collection of

18         fines, court costs, and other costs imposed by

19         a trial court in that county and remaining

20         unpaid after a certain period to a private

21         attorney or collection agency under specified

22         circumstances; providing for authorization by

23         the county commission of any additional fee to

24         offset collection costs; providing an effective

25         date.
