  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Department of

  3         Agriculture and Consumer Services; requiring

  4         the department to establish a

  5         residential-tree-replacement program for

  6         residential trees removed due to infestation by

  7         or exposure to citrus canker disease; requiring

  8         the department to prepare a report on the

  9         program; providing for submission of the report

10         by January 1, 1999; providing an effective

11         date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

14

15         Section 1.  The Department of Agriculture and Consumer

16  Services shall establish a residential-tree-replacement

17  program for residential trees removed due to exposure to or

18  infestation by citrus canker disease. The department shall

19  prepare a report that sets forth the objectives of the program

20  and the methods by which the program shall be implemented. The

21  report shall be submitted to the Governor, the President of

22  the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the

23  Agriculture Committee of the Senate, and the Agriculture

24  Committee of the House of Representatives by January 1, 1999.

25         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1 of the

26  year in which enacted.
