16 insert:
17 Section 11. Section 481.222, Florida Statutes, is
18 created to read:
19 481.222 Architects performing building code inspector
20 duties.--Notwithstanding any other provision of this part, a
21 person currently licensed to practice as an architect under
22 this part may provide building inspection services described
23 in s. 468.603(6) and (7) to a local government or state agency
24 upon its request, without being certified by the Board of
25 Building Code Administrators and Inspectors under part XIII of
26 chapter 468. When performing these building inspection
27 services, the architect is subject to the disciplinary
28 guidelines of this part and s. 468.621(1)(c)-(g). The
29 complaint processing, investigation, and discipline shall be
30 conducted by the Board of Architecture and Interior Design
31 rather than the Board of Building Code Administrators and

1 Inspectors. An architect may not perform plans review as an
2 employee of a local government upon any job that the architect
3 or the architect's company designed.
4 Section 12. Section 471.0381, Florida Statutes, is
5 created to read:
6 471.0381 Professional engineers performing building
7 code inspector duties.--Notwithstanding any other provisions
8 of this part, a person currently licensed to practice as a
9 professional engineer under this part may provide building
10 inspection services described in s. 468.603(6) and (7) to a
11 local government or state agency upon its request, without
12 being certified by the Board of Building Code Administrators
13 and Inspectors under part XIII of chapter 468. When performing
14 these building inspection services, the professional engineer
15 is subject to the disciplinary guidelines of this chapter and
16 s. 468.621(1)(c)-(g). The complaint processing, investigation,
17 and discipline shall be conducted by the Board of Professional
18 Engineers rather than the Board of Building Code
19 Administrators and Inspectors. A professional engineer may not
