  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to used motor vehicle

  3         warranties; prescribing a warranty period for

  4         the purchase of a used vehicle; allowing the

  5         seller to charge for miles driven by the

  6         purchaser within that period; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  The seller of a used motor vehicle must

12  warrant such vehicle as to fitness for a purpose sold. A used

13  motor vehicle purchaser may, within 48 hours after purchasing

14  the vehicle, return the vehicle to the seller and void the

15  sales contract. The seller may retain from the sales price an

16  amount equal to 20 cents per mile for each mile the vehicle

17  was driven by the purchaser.

18         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

19  law.

22                          SENATE SUMMARY

23    Requires sellers of used motor vehicles to offer a
      warranty. Allows purchasers to return such vehicles
24    within 48 hours.
